Model Call Success

The model call and the Wedding show were today, over all it was a pretty eventful day for the studio. There have been at least 10 models so far today and all of them show promise. There is a lot of talent in Boise! We're excited to utilize this talent in our upcoming promotional, marketing and runway events. Over the last two days I think that on average we have all have gotten maybe 3 hours of sleep :) but it is all worth it. Our hard work is going to pay off in the long run. We have many dedicated people around the studio that are all holding their own and excited to be helping make Mesela Studios stand out both here in Boise and around the world.

Mesela Studios strives to make sure that each of our employees are happy and loving what they do every moment of every day. Mesela is not just about fashion. It is a life style, we want to enjoy every aspect of it. We want the world to see that fashion is not just about looking good, it's about what you represent and who you are. Your clothing and your personality should mirror each other and we are excited to help our clients learn how to do that.

We ended our day with a book full of beautiful women, adorable children and fantastically good looking men. We are excited to be pulling from this book soon and we would like to thank all that were able to make it to our model call. We look forward to a tremendous year and some amazing work. Thank you all

Printing Madness!

Wow!!!!! Today was an incredible and productive day. We all met at Vision and started getting excited about everything that is going to happen in the next couple of months. Vision is soon to be the premier place for art and fashion in Boise, Idaho. There are so many amazing ideas floating around the air at Vision that it’s taking to keep our excitement contained to a socially acceptable level. Then after we floated around the artist environment for a couple hours laughing and talking a about the coming days and all that lies ahead we went to lunch and started on our next adventure.
The wedding show is this weekend and we wanted to make some rack cards made to hand out and get our name into the Bridal community. We went to Paper express to get the vellum paper that we were having the rack card printed on. Then we went to Overland Printers. And what an awesome experience that was. Tim at Overland Printers is an amazing man who was incredibly helpful and instrumental in the printing and putting on the finishing touches on our design. We spend a couple fun hours at Overland printer putting the finishing touches on our final product. Those couple hours were defiantly worth is and we got our finished product and it turned our better than we could have ever imagined. Tim was so helpful that we are going to go back tomorrow morning and bring him cookies!!!!!! If anyone needs anything printed go to Overland Printers on Overland road and Latah and tell him Mesela studios send you. He will probably laugh because we made a pretty big racket in his store :D But we were the most exciting thing to enter his store in a long time.
We are now ending our day with a stroll through the art galleries in downtown Boise seeing everything that the Boise art community has to offer. Our final stop will be to see our very own beautiful Cassandra sing at the Ha Penny Irish Pub and Grill on 8th and Broad in Downtown Boise. Then we took a stroll to explore Boise in the chilly weather.

Our First Photoshoot

Today was a great day for MeselaStudios. We had our first photo shoot in Boise, Idaho and it turned out fantastic. One of our fellow interns was our gorgeous model, and was unbelievable. She is an amazing person who knows how to follow direction but still allows her great personality to shine through the pictures. We have a long and wonderful road ahead of us filled with talented people and creative minds.
Mesela Studios is beginning a journey that does not have an end in sight. Kristen and her designs are going to soon wow the world, and they are not going to know what has hit them. Stay tuned for future photo shoots and the magnificent couture clothing to come.

A Boise Beginning

Mesela has had an incredible last few days! A lot can happen in a mere seventy two hours. Sunday night we all gathered at a cozy local coffee shop, and laid plans for the following year. It was inspiring to sit down and talk with such talented and creative people. It was the first time really meeting everyone; really having discussions and listening to one another’s ideas. There were so many, and such innovative concepts- one’s that the likes of fashion, not just Idaho, have yet to experience. The world might not yet know, but big things are happening in Boise!
Today, we really dug in. Fashion is not just an industry; it is a personal journey as well. When we see looks on the runway, it is so hard to understand the process that occurs before that long walk is taken. There is a story behind each individual fold, feather, and seam. I feel like stories for a lot of glorious pieces were born today.
We convened again at the aforementioned coffee shop- grounded our ideas, organized, and froze our toes off in our brown couched room. It became known that an assistant was driving a truck that day, and a plan was quickly hatched to transport all of the fabric, racks, and other assorted necessities from Kristen’s home to our current place of business. A task that had the potential to be laborious (especially given the absence of men) became more of an exciting event. As we piled fold after fold of fabric into our vehicles, I was able to see bits and pieces of what the future of Mesela was going to look like. A yard of satin there, a pheasant feather here… it all began making sense and truly coming alive. By the end of the day, my heel clad feet were aching, and my arms were tired, but I know I can speak for all of us when I say it was a good day; a productive one, and a day that many beautiful pieces will be built upon

What happened to New York?

As most of you know, Mesela was geared up and ready to head to New York for Fashion Week for the Spring 2011 Season. We had taken a trip to NYC to finalize some plans and meet with several necessary businesses. We arrived in NYC at our loft in Brooklyn and hit the ground running. We had a photoshoot scheduled, business meeting planned, trips in NYC every day all of which was to be facilitated by my former Creative Director who lived several blocks from the loft we were staying in. Unfortunately we ended up going to the city on our own due to our creative directors personal family problems. Our photoshoot kept getting pushed back and we were not able to meet with any of the businesses we had been told we had meetings with. We spent the first several days in NYC waiting on our Creative Director. On about the 3rd day we had had enough and decided to go beat the streets and find our own way. We accomplished more in that day than we did in the first 3 days combined. After some very tired feet (I literally wore a hole in the bottom of my flip flops) and some crazy humid weather we were able to check off the majority of what was on our list. We also found a little time to squeeze in some site seeing including time square, a fabulous shopping trip at the biggest forever 21 I have ever seen in my life, attending the Gay Pride Festival, and checking off NY hotdogs and pizza on our list of MUST haves.

Unfortunately on the day before we left our Creative Director sent us an email saying that he intended on quitting at the end of the month. We were, understandably, incredibly frustrated with this new information as we had not done anything, other than a photo shoot, he had scheduled for us to do. He stated he would complete all that he had promised and with this information I met him on the streets of NYC to discuss things. After an almost immediate insult to Christina upon our meeting our voices became louder and our words less thoughtful. I was very hurt and very angry and unfortunately I ended up letting him have it in a crowd of people outside of the Hilton Garden Inn!!!

I do not feel bad about what I did, I do however, feel stupid for not seeing what was going on in the beginning. I feel hurt and awful that Christina had to listen to his horrible insults towards her. I feel sad and confused for Dave having to step in and tell him to stop yelling at me. This whole ordeal was an awful experience and one I will NEVER forget. I am grateful for the lessons learned, however, I had not let myself feel betrayed and hurt and so the process of moving on and moving forward was long. After realizing that all of my hopes and dreams had been ripped unceremoniously out from under me I basically shut down.

I apologize for my absence. I am slowly coming back to reality and I have put my hopes back in to showing in NYC this coming Spring for the Fall 2011 Season. I hope that you have not lost faith in me and I pray that I will come back smarter and stronger because of this experience. Thank you all for sticking by my side and supporting me through this difficult time. I wont forget it :)
